Gaelic Medium Education (GME) is provision within Scottish education which gives children and young people an opportunity to become fluent in Gaelic..

Gaelic-medium is available in the pre-school, primary-school, secondary school and in the further and higher education sectors. As children and young people move from stage to stage, they will continue to develop their fluency. In so doing, they also fulfil all the aims and goals of Curriculum for Excellence and accrue all the benefits of bilingualism.

GME is available to all children whether they are fluent in Gaelic upon entering school or have no previous experience in the language. More information about GME can be found on the Education Scotland website (link).
